SURUMA OPENS NAADS GoU-Donor Meeting

Today 7th December 2006, NAADS holds its sixth Mid-year Planning meeting between Government of Uganda and the Development partners at Hotel Africana, Kampala. The Memorandum of Understanding between Government of Uganda and Development Partners provides for an annual Mid-Year Planning Meeting to review the programme and agree on actions for the coming year.
The planning meeting, which is scheduled to last 2 days, will target the review of Budget performance of the previous year; consider the NAADS draft Workplan and Budget for the following financial year; and address the Resource Commitments to NAADS by the Government of Uganda and participating Development Partners.
The Meeting will officially be opened by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Ezra Suruma and will be attended among others by Ministers in the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Members of Parliament, Development Partners, NAADS board of Directors, representatives from Civil Society Organisations, District Leaders and Farmers among others.
The programme, which was launched in 2001, is currently operating in 64 districts and 532 subcounties in Uganda.
This year’s planning meeting will focus on;
- Sharing of lessons emerging from NAADS implementation
- Planning for the coming year
