STOP DOUBLE TAX:-NAADS Farmers Ask

Farmers under the NAADS programme have condemned the continued taxation on agricultural products which leads to a double taxation on farmers. This was during the recently held National farmers Forum meeting at Colline hotel Mukono, the farmers presenting their views on improving the NAADS programme performance said this has greatly affected the programme in achieving its desired goals and led to failures in value for money. District Information Officers Brought on Board

The Mission of NAADS is to increase farmers’ access to information, knowledge and technology for profitable agricultural production. To contribute to the attainment of this mission NAADS is undertaking a number activities including capacity building of key stakeholders in Information and communication.

Last week NAADS Secretariat concluded the training of District Information Officers (DIOs) and District NAADS Coordinators (DNCs). (more…)

Former Soldier turns to Fish farming

He is a former soldier of the Kings African Rifles and by all means a very principled and hard working man. At 70 years, Mr. Apollo Ezati, a farmer from Lamila village in Terego district is not about to slow down. He aims to make sure his children and their children always have something to fall back to in life. Despite Terego district having no traditional fishing grounds, Mr. Ezati decided to exploit the abundant water resources of his village to start a fish farm. He started the enterprise in 1990, but the main breakthrough came with the registration of his group to access services under the NAADS programme. (more…)

After years of field extension as a veterinary expert, Dr. Bwali finally decided to practice what she preached. Masaka teacher turns to pig farming

Forty-year old, Elizabeth Nakabuye was a teacher by profession before turning to farming but it was not a love for farming that made Nakabuye turn her back on the teaching profession. A single mother of four, Nakabuye was struggling to make ends meet with poor pay and a deteriorating health situation. She suffers from diabetes. (more…)
