  Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS)

Since June 2003, NAADS in partnership with IITA’s Foodnet is implementing a pilot, project for the Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS) in the six trail-blazing districts of Arua, Kabale, Kibaale, Mukono, Soroti and Tororo. The project aims to provide Local Market Information Services to meet the information needs of grass-root agricultural actors, especially local

The NAADS AMIS concept is based on the assumption that the availability of reliable market information is a means of assisting farmers to (a) reduce the risks associated with marketing; (b) empower their ability to bargain for fairer prices and (c) to decide where to sell their produce. In addition to the provision of market information, farmers’ capacity to utilize such information is developed through face-to-face training or radio.
