The World Bank

World Bank is a term that refers to the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA). The Bank is like a cooperative in which 188 member countries are shareholders.

The World Bank is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world in forms of loans and grants. World Bank helps governments to reduce poverty by providing money and technical expertise needed for implementation of planned projects in sectors such as agriculture, education, health, infrastructure, communications, and various reforms among others

National Agricultural Research Organisation

The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) is the apex body for guidance and coordination of all agricultural research activities in the national agricultural research system in Uganda. NARO is a Public Institution established by an act of Parliament, which was enacted on 21st November 2005.

NARO strives to generate, adopt and disseminate appropriate and demand-driven technologies, knowledge and information through an effective, efficient, sustainable, decentralised and well co-ordinated agricultural research system.

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)

IFAD is an international financial institution and a specialized UN agency based in Rome. It is a UNís food and agricultural hub. It is a unique partnership of 165 members from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), other developing countries and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

IFAD is dedicated to eradicating rural poverty in developing countries and is involved in the development of indigenous peoples due to its targeted approach to rural development. IFAD offers grants and low-interest loans to developing countries with the objective of empowering people to break out of poverty.
